  • Cousins Arto and Antti Järvelä are musicians hailing from the famous
Järvelä family from Kaustinen. Järvelä fiddlers have been fiddling in front line of Ostrobothnian weddings for generations and nothing seems to get on the way of their musical virus. First known fiddler in line was Juho Järvelä (1794-1837). Lot of heritage comes from grandma Martta's (born Kentala) side too. The first fiddler we know of was
Juho Wirkkala. Juho got a 5 mark fine for playing fiddle in a dance one Sunday eve in 1726.
Growing up in a musical family means growing up in a respect for traditions and history. Arto's and Antti's musical focus focus is naturally in Ostrobothnia (the eastern shore of the Bothnia gulf). Dance and ceremonial tunes are still a major part of their music. International travelling and jamming have influenced their music but one can still hear
    the connection to their roots.
Arto and Antti have been making music together with different constellations throughout the years. They also teach their music and traditions both home and abroad, workshops
    welcome!
Arto is playing with JPP, Nordik Tree, Kaivama, Maria Kalaniemi, Erik Hokkanen & Lumisudet and also performs solo. Antti is known for his work with Frigg, JPP, Baltic Crossing, Troka and Kings of Polka. Arto & Antti Järvelä debut CD 'Os fera liluli' (OARTCD8) was released 2013 and duo has toured in Canada, Denmark and United States.

      Hi Claudia!
It is a song for friendship and celebration. A mixture of few different languages, mainly variants of latin spiced with ancient swedish and greek. Like a little game with words and phrases from the past.
We shall celebrate now in honor for you, my friend
Our hearts are beating along as much as do our heads
Guard, protect, keep yourself in good health
With joy, peacefully among us, please stay
      Best,
      Antti
